these are a few of my favorite things

If you are new to my blog, this post is for you :) If you are not, this is old news folks! But I hope you find some joy in the pictures. I needed to boost myself up a little bit. I've got a painful neck and some pain killers that are making me so drowsy. I'm on my second Mtn Dew and it's only noon. I do NOT drink soda, let alone caffeine but it's helping the pain and my alertness while I'm at work.

I also now have this song stuck in my head: "rain drops, and roses, and whiskers on kittens...these are a few of my favorite things..." That's what I get for making it my post title. Without further adieu, here are a few of my favorite things: (sorry, it wont rhyme, I'm not that talented)

libraries/books

balloons

typewriters

lipstick

ferris wheels

Cocoa Bean cupcakes

umbrellas

You know I have 2-3 regular male followers and i just cracked up a little, they must really know woman well, and how in the world do you guys enjoy these things?! Plus their comments are always frickin hilarious haha, more power to ya!

whisper words of wisdom, let it be...

So last night a van chose to slam their brakes on right in front of me...I rear ended them pretty hard. Luckily my car was the only one damaged, and she was a very nice lady.
I'm definitely in pain right now though, my airbags are apparently broken so I slammed into the darned wheel and did something to my neck/back. It's just achy today, not too horrible, but luckily my job only requires me to sit and be pretty for anyone who might happen to walk in here...

Anyway on a happier note: IT'S FRIDAY!!! It came right on time, too! I need some extra sleep and I'm going to do a lot with my shop. I just passed 100 followers so I think we need a big discount in my shop....no!?
Right now everything in my shop is $10, it doesn't say that! But everything that happens to be over $10 is only $10, if it's less than we'll keep it like that :) If you want to wait for my big announcement this weekend, there will be more things available.  But I wear my stuff everyday and get lots of compliments. I've had 4 sales to this point, I think the 5th deserves a little extra something, right?
Also, there MAY possibly be an issue with the pay pal, so if it does something weird feel free to email me at cestlasara(@)gmail.com and we can do it the easier way :)

PS I can also custom make anything you would like differently, colors, shapes, placing of the flower, you name it! :)

Foot Binding in China

I'm listening to this book on my iPhone called "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. It's a story about life for woman back in the 1800's in China, but more specifically about the life of one specific girl and the things she had to go through, along with all the other woman.
They used to believe that beauty = tiny feet. Nobody is sure where this had originated but there are different guesses. "From the desire to emulate the naturally tiny feet of a favored concubine of a prince, to a story of an empress who had club-like feet, which became viewed as a desirable fashion."  We don't know, but these woman would go to ridiculous lengths to shrink their feet. Mostly the wealthiest parts of China practiced this. "When foot-binding was popular and customary, women and their families and husbands took great pride in tiny feet that had achieved the desired lotus shape."

In order to "shrink" your feet, drastic measure are taken. Arches and toes would be broken and you would slowly go down in shoe sizes, always keeping your feet wrapped tight. "In the 1990s and early 2000s, some elderly Chinese women still suffered from disabilities related to bound feet."

If you look close enough at this second picture, you can see that this ladies toes are broken and tucked under her foot.

...Edna Mo...

I just ran to WalMart on my "lunch" break to do some grocery shopping and I swear I was almost put in jail! The lady at the check out was the tiniest woman I've ever seen. Kind of like Edna Mo from the Incredibles:
Yah, her...so this is my check out lady except she was Asia. The total amount only came to about $50 and I said I would like to do credit (US bank charges you every time you use your debit code), she asked to see my ID and card so I hand them to her and say "one is in my married name..." She seriously sat there and stared at me without looking at my cards for at least 30 second, then she stared at my cards for another 30 seconds. The lady in behind me in line was looking at me like "what in the world is she doing?"
Then this little lady looks up at me real fast, slooowwwllly reaches her finger up to the machine and pushes the button to let me do credit. She stared straight at me from the top of her eyes as I put my groceries in my cart, did not look away once and her eyes followed me as I walked away....SO CREEPY
I'm sorry I have 2 different names right now! I'm working on it alright?

outside there's a box car waiting

Last year I bought myself a nice little Canon camera, just a cheapo so that I could start saving memories. It's done me well, but it is time for an upgrade before I head on over to Europe. I need something better to capture those memories. I need something nice. Not too pricey, but something that will last and help me continue to learn the skills of a photographer...

Does anyone have any thoughts? What kind of camera do you have? Do you love it or hate it? What would you suggest? Please share!

Mrs. Robinson, I believe you're trying to spoon me

Remember this post?  Well good news folks, I went back and got my shirt!!!

Yes, the "shut up and spoon me" shirt. I even got a discount because they didn't have the size I wanted, but good news, the size I got fits perfectly! There is a possibility I'm wearing it at work right now. Is that bad?
Us three girlies took Jon to experience the Spoon Me Love and we had a blast. Tony missed out because he chose to be a cheater. Whatever Tony, your going to be so jealous.

What was the best part, you may ask? I will tell you! The bathrooms...seriously, the bathrooms at this delicious frozen yogurt shop were better than the frozen yogurt itself. Allow me to explain:

The mature part of town decided it would be cool to take the "S" and "N" out of spoon everywhere in the bathroom. I have to admit, I've never laughed so hard while peeing.

"Shhhh...just poo"
"Hey baby, let's poo"
"Show me the poo!!"
"I'd poo that"
"#1 pooer"
"Less talk, more poo"
"Lean with me, poo with me"
and my all time favorite, "Mrs. Robinson, I believe you're trying to poo me"

Which brings me to my next question. Have any of you ever seen The Graduate? The original, old movie (Mrs. Robinson, I believe you are trying to seduce me")?  I really liked Rumor Has It with Jennifer Aniston so I thought I would give it a try. Yah...not so much. The Graduate was probably the worst and most depressing movie I've ever seen in my life. With the most bizarre ending...

Honestly, I wish I would have just turned if off but I had this nagging curiosity in my head "it's a classic, you have to understand". It was so ridiculous I was laughing the whole way through, it's a movie you have to watch with friends that will laugh at the weirdness with you. So I watched it with Melissa (this was over a year ago) and it was even worse the second time around. I'm curious if there is someone out there that really enjoyed it. Like thought it was well done or anything...

The only enjoyable part to me was how well "Rumor Has It" played off of the story line. I liked how they took an old "classic" and made it into something more. Which is why I felt the need to watch the original, that's the historian in me.

Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

Dear Johnny the Paycheck Man,
I love it when you visit because you bring our paychecks with you, but I'm not so happy with the treats you bring. This office is full of health freaks (Taige eats fresh spinach like chips) and your gourmet donuts sit on the kitchen table and taunt me with their looks. Then I eat them because nobody else will and it's hurting their feelings!

Dear Kleresa, Alicia, Tiffany, Jeneca, and Eryn,
This ward is such a happier place for me now :) You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey...

Dear Visiting Man in the Back Office,
Your laugh vibrates off the walls and into my throbbing ear drums.  Taige isn't that funny...

Dear Brain,
It would really really be beneficial if you could make up your mind and just settle down a little bit.  I don't know why you have to get so confused and over think everything. It's really not that big of a deal...

Dear AT&T,
K I don't know what to do...I had the 900 minute plan but had over 2000 rollover minutes so then I changed to the 400 minute plan but now I'm over minutes. For crying out loud, can't you have a 600 minutes plan?!

Dear Mother Nature,
Thank you for allowing the weather to be nice today here in Provo. I don't know what yesterday was about, but I'll let it slide on account of I can't really do much about it...

Dear Jenny and Cory's Dog,
I'm sorry that I threw you across the room and caused you to have to hide under the bed in fear for the rest of the night. I promise it was an accident but you had it coming. My sisters new puppy is not food, that was not cool of you to put his head in your mouth. I would never do that to you. Plus also he is sorry that he peed on your territory.

Dear Macy,
STOP growing up right NOW, I haven't even met you yet and I need to see you like this before you move onto the next stage of cuteness. I say this in the sweetest most loving voice possible...

Dear Jeans,
I just really hate you lately. I only want to wear dresses and skirts because they are so comfortable! I'll come back to you in the winter time, I promise, but for now you may take a break. Just don't shrink...

Dear Readers,
I like you. A lot. Like a lot a lot. Don't give up on me!
